Christmasing your website
Getting your website ready for Christmas
Thankfully the days of websites playing Christmas songs when you open them up are long gone. Floating snow and the star of Bethlehem following your mouse pointer around the screen are equally consigned to the dustbin of what passed for coolness about 10 years ago, but what do your customers want to see at this time of year?
Opening hours
Of course you’ll be closing for a few extra days over the festive period, and this is good thing to add to your website. It’s also a good idea to let people know which days you are open, as well as closed to avoid any doubt.
Final dates for guaranteed Christmas deliveries
Let people know when they absolutely have to order by to get their goods by Christmas. ALWAYS give yourself an extra day to sort out queries and problems.
Offer details
If you have monthly offers, are you finishing them before the end of the month? May we’ll be worth mentioning that.
Emergency numbers
If you are offering an emergency service over the Christmas period, tell people when the lines are operating from, which numbers to call and when they operate from and to. Make it clear the kinds of emergencies these are for.
Finally, e-Christmas cards. Please don’t. The first one is amusing, but come the week before Christmas when everyone has forgotten to order real Christmas cards, these cascade into inboxes and get deleted in a flash. Bah humbug.
